After successfully spearheading the growth of Celtel as CEO over the past three years, Marten Pieters has decided to leave the company at the end of January 2007.
Mr. Pieters’ decision has been made in the context of the organizational integration of Celtel and MTC into one group. The new integrated structure means that there will no longer be a CEO position at Celtel. Instead, MTC’s African and Middle East operations will each have a Chief Operating Officer (COO) reporting to the CEO of the MTC Group, Dr. Saad Al Barrak.
Moez Daya, currently Celtel’s Chief Technical Officer, will take on the COO responsibilities at Celtel as of 1st January 2007, until a permanent COO has been appointed.
