Celtel Board of Directors appointed
Following the acquisition of Celtel International by MTC of Kuwait in May, 2005, the Shareholders meeting of Celtel International B.V. has appointed the following people to form the new Board of Directors of Celtel International with immediate effect:

Enquiries: Dr Mo Ibrahim Mo Ibrahim is Chairman of Celtel International. He is an acknowledged global expert in mobile communications with a distinguished academic and business career. He founded MSI (Metapath Software Inc) in 1989 after six years with Cellnet, as Technical Director. Metapath was sold in June 2000. Ibrahim founded MSI Cellular Investments in 1998 (renamed Celtel International). Celtel operates cellular networks in 13 African countries. Ibrahim holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alexandria, Egypt, an MSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom and PhD in Mobile Communications from the University of Birmingham. He is a member of the Africa Regional Advisory Board of London Business School. Mo is of Nubian (Sudanese) origin. Lord Cairns Lord Cairns is Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Celtel. Previously, he was Chairman of Actis Capital LLP, CDC Group plc, Allied Zurich and BAT Industries plc. Lord Cairns was also Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SG Warburg. In addition, he was Chairman of the Commonwealth Business Council and the Overseas Development Institute. Lord Cairns holds a BA in Economics from Trinity College, Cambridge. Asa'ad Al Banwan Mr. Al Banwan was appointed Chairman of Mobile Telecommunications Company in March, 2005. Prior to becoming Chairman, he was Vice Chairman and member of the Investment Committee. He was Senior Vice President of the Kuwait Investment Company and Deputy General Manager of Wafra International Investment Company in Kuwait. Mr. Al Banwan is currently the Vice Chairman and CEO of National Investment Company of Kuwait. In addition, Mr. Al Banwan is member of the Board of Directors of several regional and international companies. He holds a BS (Finance and Administration) from the University of Kuwait. Dr Saad Hamad Al Barrak Saad Al Barrak is Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of MTC. He is a distinguished engineer and businessman of international repute. Under his tutelage, MTC's customer base has increased to more than 10 million and the company's share price has more than doubled. Prior to his appointment at MTC, he was Managing Director and General Manager of International Turnkey Systems (ITS). Dr Al Barrak also held positions at the Social Development Office (SDO) of Amiri Diwan, IT Soft, Arab Telecom and the Arab Management Association. Saad Al Barrak holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering and MSc in Systems Engineering from University of Ohio and a PhD in Information Systems & Information Technology Management from the University of London. In 2005, he was recognized as the Middle East's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) CEO of the year. Dr Salim Ahmed Salim Dr Salim Ahmed Salim is one of Africa's leading statesmen. He recently retired after 12 years as the Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Unity, having led the transformation into the Africa Union. Previously he was Ambassador in Cairo, New Delhi, Beijing, the Caribbean and at the United Nations. Born in Zanzibar and educated at Delhi University in India and at Columbia University in the USA, Salim Salim also served as Foreign Minister of Tanzania from 1980 - 1984, as Prime Minister in 1984 -1985 and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence from 1985 - 1989. Abdul Aziz Al Nafisi Mr. Al Nafisi was elected to the Board of MTC in March 2005. He has a wealth of experience in finance and investment. He held positions with the Burgan Bank, the International Project Investment Group and was Chairman of Al Dar Finance until 2003. He is Chairman of Arab Telecom Co in addition to being CEO of the Al Nafisi National Group. He earned his Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Whittier College- California, USA in 1977. Jonathon Bond Jonathon Bond is a Managing Partner of Actis and is responsible for Actis's global fund-raising and investor relations activities. In addition, he is also a member of the Management Committee, Valuations Steering Group and several Investments Committees Jonathon joined CDC Capital Partners (the predecessor to Actis) in 2001 managing a fund-raising team. Previously, Jonathon held positions at HSBC Private Equity, Electra Private Equity and Bain & Company. Jonathon holds a BA (Hons) in Law from Oxford University. Abdul Mohsen Al Faris Mr. Al Faris was first elected to the board of MTC in 1999. Mr. Al Faris was previously the chairman for Kuwait Cable Company and he is currently a Board member of Egyptian Kuwaiti Holding Company. He earned his Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Kuwait University in 1967. Wilfried Verstraete Wilfried Verstraete has significant management experience in the telecommunications industry including the France Telecom Group as Chief Finance Officer of Mobistar, Chief Finance Officer of Wanadoo, Chief Finance Officer and member of the Board of Orange SA. Currently he is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Atradius, the Dutch credit insurance company. Wilfried will chair the Audit Committee. Wilfried holds a degree in economics from Brussels University and a Master's degree in Financial Management. He is also an alumnus of the INSEAD International Executive Program. Sheikh Khalifa Al Sabah Sheikh Al Sabah is a distinguished international businessman with interests in the telecommunications and media industries in Kuwait. Sheikh Al Sabah was appointed as a non-executive director and board member of MTC in 2005. Sheikh Al Sabah is the proprietor and chairman of Al Watan newspapers in Kuwait. Dr Mohsen Khalil Mohsen Khalil has significant experience in telecommunications. He is currently the joint World Bank/IFC Director of the Global Information and Communication Technologies Department. Previously, he was IFC's Director for Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa. Prior to the World Bank Group, while also serving as Professor of Business at the American University of Beirut, he served as Chief Advisor to the Lebanese Minister of Communications and as Board Director of Lebanon's Autonomous Fund for Housing. He also worked with McKinsey consultants, NASA Goddard Flight Center and Mitre Corporation. Mohsen Khalil holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from USC and an M.Sc. in Management from MIT Sloan School. Jamal Al Kanadary Mr. Jamal Al Kandary was elected to the Board of MTC in 1999. He has been Vice Chairman of Iraq Kuwaiti Holding Co since 2004. He is also a Board member of Fastlink since 2002. Previously he held the position of Chairman of Al Ahlia Real Estate Co from 1995-2002.
