Celtel signs up 5 millionth customer

Celtel International, the pan-African mobile communications group with operations in 13 countries, has signed up its five millionth mobile customer.

Marten Pieters, Celtel International Group Chief Executive, said:
"Passing five million customers is a great achievement for Celtel. We have been signing up an average of around 50,000 new customers per week and are very pleased with the current level of growth in our operations.

"We are the market leader in most of the countries in which we operate, and we are continuing to invest heavily in infrastructure to support future growth."
